Microsoft's first DOS to be developed independently from IBM following the OS/2 split, MS-DOS 6.0 adds a new boot menu and commands CHOICE, DELTREE, and MOVE. Microsoft also licensed Vertisoft's DoubleDisk drive compression as DoubleSpace (DBLSPACE), Norton's SpeedDisk as DEFRAG, Central Point's Anti-Virus and VDefend as Microsoft AntiVirus (MSAV) and VSafe, and MemMaker and Sizer from Helix Software. HIMEM.SYS was upgraded to support up to 64MB of RAM. The older BACKUP command is replaced by the new MSBackup in MS-DOS 6, although the RESTORE command is still included allowing backups from the older version of DOS to still be restored. It also introduced the INTERLNK/INTERSVR serial/parallel file transfer utilities and included a copy of Microsoft Diagnostics (MSD), which previously was only obtainable separately or as part of other Microsoft products such as Word. It is also the first MS-DOS to omit the RECOVER floppy repair command and add online help to QBASIC.
IBM's equivalent is PC-DOS 6.10.
