Just fyi Wikia managed to break SMW somehow, so some functionality (like portals) won't work (until it's fixed). We can still create new pages and make some decisions though.
Another test review. I like to boot Ubuntu when Vista misbehaves. Therefore I tend to use it a lot.
Even the featured article on the main page is a stub. Are there any completely developed articles that could serve as an example for others? Is there a style manual? There are no sections. What type of sections do you want?, certainly a paragraph and an infobox is a start but there is no indication of what type of content you want. Reviews? Images? Development history? External links? References? Does the wiki need an active administrator? Mjpresson CJ 20:22, February 26, 2010 (UTC)
Just fyi we're testing a new feature on Wikia; article comments. These are essentially like the ones on blogs, but for articles. The idea is that people can post short reviews/opinions/recommendations for others.
I think our first goal for this wiki should be getting to 200 articles so that we can request a spotlight. If anyone has any clever ideas for how to get there faster, or another way to increase activity, please share them here. I placed a progress bar in the sitenotice so that people can see how far we've got.
Thanks to an import from w:c:opensource we are now past the 200 article mark. Now we just need to get them all up to non-stub standard.
So, I had this vision. A wiki database of software, with easy ways to find software of a certain type, price, license, etc. Thus, I adopted this wiki and had the semantic suite installed. I hope to be able to create an easy to use system for adding pages and to get information from them.
- Tweak the generic software form so that almost any relevant
information can be added by anyone.
- To do this I will need some feedback, as I surely will not be able to think of everything we could have information on.
- The idea is too make the most basic information mandatory, with more in-depth information specifiable if the editor wishes to.
- Create more specialized forms, such as Form:Operating system, Form:Browser and Form:Video game, so that we can add more s…
